DBD 1v1 Symmetric Ranked
The classical 1v1 format, where each player takes both the killer and survivor side, competing in a best-of-X.
A game mode is one named, published set of match rules — the format you play under. When you join the queue you queue for one game mode, and you are only matched with other players who chose the same one.

The classic competitive format: killer vs coordinated team of four survivors, played under most strict rules.
Atypical format: killer vs 2 Duo survivors. No cross VC. A bit smaller killer pool, less strict perk restrictions for survivor side. Survivors are rated as Duo.
Unrated causal mode: borrow rating from Quartet Ranked for MMR. 3-5 map candidates for each killer, randomly chosen each match.
Unrated causal mode: borrow rating from Duo Ranked for MMR. 3-5 map candidates for each killer, randomly chosen each match. A bit wider MMR window.
Unrated causal mode: No VC. borrow rating from Duo+Duo Ranked for MMR. 3-5 map candidates for each killer, randomly chosen each match. Smaller killer pool, less strict perk restrictions for survivor side. Most pub-like format. Experimental.
A fixed-role 1v1 format where one player remains the killer and the other remains the survivor, competing against a per-killer chase-time threshold in a best-of-X.
